Description

The Civil Construction industry plays a large part in our day to day living. We all use pathways, roads, bridges, drainage, and other infrastructure daily. People in the industry work on projects covering such diverse fields as roads, subdivisions, bridgeworks, railways, harbours, sewerage and drainage, electrical infrastructure, pipelines, and recreation works. Civil Construction is the most significant participant in the building environment, active across a range of sectors – the commercial sector, as well as Local and State Government.

Delivery

This course is delivered by combination of face-to-face classroom, online activities, simulated and real-life workplace environments. Throughout the duration of your training, you will be provided with all resources and learning materials needed to complete this course. You will maintain a logbook of tasks undertaken on the job.

Assessments

Assessments are conducted in simulated and real-life workplace situations. Written assessments and quizzes may also form parts of your assessment. SafeWork units will be assessed by SafeWork NSW approved assessors.

Requirements

Enrolment requirements:

  • Proof of identity
  • USI – Unique Student Identifier. If you do not have a USI or can’t remember it please go to www.usi.gov.au

Training and assessment requirements:

  • PPE must be worn (boots, long pants, long sleeve shirt, hat/cap, sun glasses)
  • Students will need a basic understanding of written and oral English and be able to communicate orally and in writing at a basic level.

Course pre-requisites

There are no pre-requisites for this course.

A general construction induction card (White Card) will be required to enter a construction site and be a requirement of your apprenticeship.

Pathways to further training

The units included in this course may provide credit towards Certificate II and Certificate III qualifications in the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package and other training packages, such as RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction or equivalent.
