RIIWHS204D Work Safely At Heights

This one (1) day course is designed for workers who require Nationally Accredited qualifications in order to work safely at heights in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. If there is any chance of you falling from one level to another whilst working then you, or your employees, should complete this training. The appropriate training and prevention techniques are vital to ensure the health and safety of not only yourself but your fellow workers.

Participants will develop skills to select height safety equipment, apply it to specific tasks and develop an understanding of Risk Assessment procedures and permits required to work safely at heights. Practical activities will ensure you are aware of correct set up and fitting techniques of height specific equipment.

This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles where they are required to perform work at heights. This includes industries such as trades, commercial and residential construction / renovations or drivers who are required to perform work activities from the rear of a vehicle where there is a risk of falling.

On completion of this program, participants will be able to:

• Understand legislation relating to working a heights
• Identification, assessment and controlling of risks associated with working at heights
• Identify, inspect and care for personal fall protection equipment
• Utilize personal fall protection equipment
• Understand how to effectively and safely retrieve a person who has fallen in a fall arrest system
